IRASOL was initiated by a group of researchers, mainly in the field of dye and perovskite solar cells, who develop various materials and equipment needed for solar cells research and other applications. The company was founded in 2015 by Prof. Nima Taghavinia, as a spin-off of NCL group in Sharif University of Technology. NCL is a group of solar cells research, with more than 200 published papers, more than 5000 citations, and alumni of more than 100 people.

The materials developed in IRASOL are carefully tested and used in NCL. In most cases, the materials are first utilized in real research, and papers are published using them before they are commercialized. The same assessment process is carried out on developed equipment, where they are field-tested in the lab, and publications are made using them before commercializing the equipment.

At present IRASOL has offices in Tehran, Istanbul and Shanghai. Products are manufactured in different locations, and exported throughout the world. In addition to materials and equipment, IRASOL provides services on fabrication and testing of solar cells, and establishment of complete labs on solar cells research. We also provide complete educating services on how to start research on perovskite solar cells: from making perovskite solar cells and characterization, to the details of using the equipment.
